Peavey Electronics Provides Backline For ProgPower USA Festival

Peavey Electronics® recently announced their sponsor partnership with the ProgPower USA Festival XIV. Now in its 14th consecutive year, the ProgPower Festival brings US and European acts to one stage, designed to be “America’s premier progressive and power metal event.”

 The ProgPower USA Festival took place in September at Center Stage in Atlanta featuring co-headlining acts such as Shadow Gallery, Soilwork, Sabaton, Armored Saint, and Circus Maximus. In true ProgPower tradition, the festival will also mark the U.S. debut for five of these bands. 

PreSonus Supports LSU’s College of Engineering

To support education and research in the Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering, PreSonus Audio Electronics has pledged $200,000 to establish a digital signal processing (DSP) laboratory. DSP is a specialized branch of mathematics that performs analysis and processing of binary representations of analog signals. Advances in digital technology have enabled DSP systems to accomplish tasks inexpensively and efficiently that are difficult or impossible using analog technology. The DSP laboratory will provide LSU College of Engineering students a state-of-the-art environment for learning those skills required in industry settings.

Reading Buccaneers Win 2013 DCA Championships

The Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps, Reading, Pa, have won the 2013 DCA Championships with a score of 98.43.  New to the Pearl/Adams Roster in 2013, the Buccaneers are synonymous with success, and their tradition continued in 2013 with their production of "Higher, Faster, Stronger." The 2013 Championship is the Buccaneers’ 12th World Championship victory, and their 8th in the past nine years.  Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Finals took place in Annapolis, Md., September 1, at the magnificent Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Bucs drumline had a very strong finals performance, finishing 2nd overall in percussion, while the corps took 1st place in the Visual, Music, Communication, and General Effect captions.

Aaron Gillespie Joins Vater Roster

Aaron Gillespie was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. At only 14 years old, he received a call from Underoath asking him to play drums for them. Aaron led Underoath for 10 years, including 6 albums, millions of records sold, 2 Grammy nominations and countless world tours. After much consideration he stepped down as the drummer of Underoath in April of 2010. Aaron fronts his rock band The Almost, which he started in 2007, and who just released their newest album, Fear Inside Our Bones this past June. He also fronts a solo band and released a solo album in 2011.

Moog Announces Discontinuation of Little Phatty Analog Synthesizer

Moog Music today announced the discontinuation of the Little Phatty Stage II analog synthesizer. Moog plans to continue building a limited quantity of units at their factory in downtown Asheville while parts and materials last, which is not expected to be more than two months. The Little Phatty was released in 2006 as a tribute to the life and legacy of Moog Music founder and synthesizer pioneer, Bob Moog. Following the passing of Dr. Moog, The Little Phatty was the first Moog synthesizer designed by Moog Music's Chief Engineer, Cyril Lance.

Gretsch’s Anniversary Celebration Comes “Home” To NYC

Events celebrating the 130th anniversary of the Gretsch Musical Instrument Company have been taking place all over the U.S. this year. But it was particularly fitting for two of those events to be held this past August 3 in Gretsch’s “home town” of New York City. The Gretsch Company was founded in 1883 when German immigrant Friedrich Gretsch opened his musical-instrument shop in Brooklyn. The company grew over the next several decades, and the Gretsch factory at 60 Broadway became a local landmark. Though Gretsch vacated the building in the late 1960s, it still stands today as a monument to the legacy of a great New York-based musical enterprise.
