Fleming Named President of Bourgeois Guitars

Bourgeois Guitars has announced the promotion of Christopher Fleming to the position of president and C.O.O.

Fleming joined Bourgeois Guitars after serving over 20 years as a Captain in both the Merchant Marine and the maritime non-profit sector.  He is one of the last generations of “Hawse Pipers”, (mariners who did not attend a Merchant Marine Academy), to attain an Unlimited Master of Motor, Steam, Sail and Towing Vessels of Unlimited Tonnage up on all Oceans, the highest level of maritime licensure.  Having spent a good portion of his seagoing career developing and facilitating leadership, team building and character development programs, Christopher is well positioned to help the team at BourgeoisGuitars attain new heights.

For the last 7 years, Christopher spent his off-ship time building acoustic guitars for his own brand out of his shop in Midcoast Maine.  After the birth of his son, Christopher decided to “Swallow the Anchor” and move ashore to be a full-time father. Hejoined Bourgeois Guitars as a luthier in October of 2017.

Upon the retirement of President and C.O.O. Robert Smallwood, Christopher was promoted to General Manager, in which capacity he managed daily operations for the company.  In his new role Christopher will also be responsible for Production and Administrative team development, management of infrastructure and marketing initiatives, and will facilitate short and long-range strategic planning.  The company is excited and proud to have his leadership experience and his passion for the craft on board as it lays course into the future.

Pantheon/Bourgeois Guitars is a boutique manufacturerin Lewiston Maine, widely recognized for producing some of the finest steel string acoustic guitars available today.  Under the leadership of founder and CEO, Dana Bourgeois, the company of nineteen employees producesupwards of 400 high-end guitarsper year for domestic and international distribution.
