Marlene Davis passed away on December 19, 2020 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Loving daughter of Sylvia and Maurice Levy (both deceased). She was the beloved wife of Sidney, retired Publisher of Musical Merchandise Review, with whom they would have shared 62 years of marriage on December 23. She is survived by her daughters Lynne Weinstein and her husband Joe Murray and Susan Costa and her husband Eduardo. Her greatest joy were her two grandchildren Jeffrey Weinstein and Victoria Costa. Also survived by her brother, David Levy and sister-in-law Barbara and sister-in-law Joan Lan along with nephews Stephen, Russell and Andrew Lan and nieces Risa Sablone and Jennifer Fitzpatrick.
Marlene was a product of the Chelsea,MA. school system and worked for many years as a bookkeeper for both accounting firms and in the banking industry. In grade school she won a city wide spelling contest and received a medal in recognition by the Boston Herald Traveler. She and her husband lived in Randolph, MA for more than 40 years, an active congregant of Temple Beth Am, chairing the Temple’s youth group, which, at the time, was the largest in the New England area. One of her passions was needlepoint and for several years she operated the Stitching Post, a craft and yarn shop in Quincy, MA. More recently she knit mittens, scarfs and hats for local youth groups along with prayer shawls which were given to comfort hospice patients.
She loved to cook and entertain at her Cape Cod home with special parties during her birthday which coincided with the July 4th holiday. Her favorite winter travel was in Aruba where she spent many an evening at the Island’s restaurants and casinos. She loved all Boston sporting teams especially her beloved Red Sox.
