Peavey Electronics Amps Up Versatility with New VYPYR X Series

Peavey Electronics® once again redefines the modeling amplifier category with the introduction of the VYPYR X Series. This latest evolution of the VYPYR design includes three new models with updated styling, enhanced acoustic performance, and improved TransTube® analog/digital hybrid technology. The new VYPYR X2 and X3 models also come with Bluetooth® remote control and audio streaming in. Fully loaded with amps and effects, the VYPYR X Series proves why it’s the ultimate modeling machine, providing a range of solutions with substantial value.

The VYPYR X Series carries on the tradition of the pioneering VYPYR guitar amplifier, circa 2008, which remedied common problems with modeling amps. Many modeling amps simply can’t be heard in a live setting because of their poor digital distortions and practice amp EQ. Peavey’s exclusive TransTube technology, improved in the new VYPYR X Series, provides the solution with true analog distortion that emulates real tubes. This not only sounds better but leaves the amplifier’s processing power dedicated to the effects. As a result, VYPYR X amps can run up to five effects simultaneously, sitting perfectly in the mix in a live environment.

True to the VYPYR VIP legacy, the new VYPYR X Series offers world-class processing and cabinet design with Variable Instrument Performance. Users can switch from electric guitar to bass to acoustic on the same amplifier. The VYPYR X2 and X3 models take utility a step further with up to 10 different instrument modes and 26 total on-board amp-accessible effects. The X2 and X3 models can also be controlled remotely with on-board Bluetooth wireless remote control via Peavey’s exclusive VYPYR control app for iOS devices. Users can change and store all their presets remotely, stream audio in, and play a backing track or favorite music.

Unlike competitors who claim their amps have multiple effects and models, but require the use of external software to be fully functional, the VYPYR X Series allows users to access any features right from the front of the amplifier or with the use of a footswitch in the case of the looper. The user doesn’t need to hook up a computer in order to edit a preset or swap out an effect — it can all be done right from the amp itself. Peavey’s WYSIWG (What You See Is What You Get) interface allows VYPYR X users to identify the position of the knobs by simply looking at the amplifier. The LED light around the knob indicates which position it’s in relative to the current preset, a helpful feature that avoids confusion and mistakes that result when the knob position no longer corresponds to the actual setting.

The feature-packed VYPYR X Series amplifiers each arrive with 12 stompbox effects with dual parameter control and an on-board looper accessed through the optional Sanpera™ footswitch. The custom cabinet is designed for optimal low-end response with a semi-open back design providing enhanced volume and tone. Each VYPYR X amp comes equipped with 36 on-board amp modes, including 6 acoustic and 6 bass amp models; universal delay and reverb; a custom-voiced heavy-duty speaker; a 3.5 mm aux in for connecting audio sources; and a headphone jack. The top-of-the-line VYPYR X3 delivers 100 Watts RMS, over 400 amp-accessible presets, and a LED screen for ease of setup and preset identification.

Purchased individually, the amps and effects in a VYPYR X could cost well over $50,000. In fact, Peavey has used the same technology found in stompbox pedals that cost almost as much as the VYPYR X for a single effect. For the same amount of money, Peavey delivers up to 26 effects in addition to 10 instrument models and 36 amp models. Whether a player is seeking a lightweight, highly portable setup that will help them cut through a band’s mix, or a solo performer is looking for an all-in-one rig to expand their presets/effects bandwidth, the VYPYR X Series provides a better solution.
