A Message for NASMD Members from Whitney Grisaffi

Dear Fellow NASMD Members,

COVID-19 is a name that at some point in the future will be discussed like the Great Depression. It will be something we all experienced and as a collective, survived. Intellectually we know this will end, but today, emotionally, it feels as if it will never be over. Take heart, we are in this together and the NASMD community will figure out ways to rise above the challenges facing us and make it through to the other side.

NASMD continues to be a strong organization with close knit ties among its members. We are resilient companies and are very clever when it comes to helping people make music. I urge you to keep a positive outlook and reach out to your community of peers for ideas and support. Share what you have and learn from each other. Most importantly, help to be a beacon of hope for your customers and employees.

I’d like to share what Ron Manus of Alfred Music wrote to sister organization RPMDA’s members: Our message to musicians, teachers, retailers, publishers, authors, partners and students should be, “What can I do to help?” That we are here and we will be here when this passes. We are your partner and we are on your side. Keep the lines of communication open. Reach out and let them know you are thinking about them.

I know that we will celebrate the resilience of the human spirit and be making music together again soon. Stay connected, stay well and stay tuned.
