British microphone manufacturer Sontronics is pleased to announce the launch of ZETA, a brand-new high-performance JFET condenser microphone designed to deliver exceptional detail, musical character and ultra-low noise across a wide range of recording environments.

ZETA has been developed to bridge the gap between boutique home studios and professional recording spaces, giving artists, producers, and engineers access to a level of quality usually only associated with high-end studios. Whether used in a treated home studio or a commercial vocal booth or live room, ZETA is designed to reveal detail, nuance, and realism with ease.

At the heart of ZETA is a high-sensitivity JFET circuit paired with a boutique Lundahl transformer, delivering a clear, open sound with natural warmth and depth. With an ultra-low self-noise of just 9dBA, the microphone performs confidently on quiet sources such as vocals, voice over and acoustic instruments, while maintaining control and headroom for more dynamic performances.

“With ZETA, we wanted to create a microphone that lets people really hear what’s possible,” says Miles Ward, Product Manager at Sontronics. “It captures a huge amount of detail, but it’s still musical and flattering. The idea was to make something that works just as well in a home studio as it does in a professional one, without needing lots of extra gear.”

ZETA excels on a multitude of applications, from lead vocals, spoken word, acoustic guitar, piano, strings, and room miking, anything you throw at it, offering a smooth top end and rich mid range that help recordings sit naturally in a mix with minimal processing. Rather than emulating a vintage design, ZETA has been carefully tuned to carry its own distinctive voice, balancing modern precision with boutique character.

ZETA has been designed, engineered, and hand-built using through-hole components in the UK, and is backed by Sontronics’ unique Limited Lifetime Warranty.
