Ashdown Engineering, world-class manufacturers of guitar and bass amplifiers, announces the appointment of Daniel Gooday as managing director, who will be taking over from Mark Gooday. Having been promoted from marketing director Daniel will continue the family legacy of running Ashdown Engineering with a brand new and robust plan to drive the company forward globally.
Stepping into his new role, Daniel will offer a reinvigorated approach to the business with youthful focus that will be applied to all areas. New responsibilities will be to oversee marketing, sales, product development, logistics and assist a team to fuel the growth of Ashdown. The new ambitious growth plans laid down will see an effort to grow retail channels overseas, with a focus on new priority markets such as the U.S.
Having joined the family business in 2002 straight after leaving college, Daniel has grown with the company and developed a skillset that will be vital for the continued growth of the business. Daniel boasts expertise in business development within overseas markets through sales, having held this responsibility during his career. Throughout his time at Ashdown, Daniel has played a crucial role in artist relations – specifically developing that side of the business in creating closer and more meaningful relationships with artists such as Biffy Clyro and System of a Down – who are important customers and advocates for Ashdown.
During his time within Ashdown, Daniel has been instrumental in not only business development but also onsite with clients and ensuring the supply and performance of products for global events and artists. One highlight includes Live 8 – a string of benefit concerts that took place in 2005 which saw the Ashdown team onstage with artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Razorlight and many more. Other highlight events include Black Sabbath’s The End Tour, which again saw Ashdown side by side with the artists assisting them with full product support.
Daniel Gooday, managing director of Ashdown Engineering, commented: “It’s brilliant to follow in the footsteps of my father and continue to develop the growth of Ashdown with a focus on not only within the UK, but worldwide. Our goal has remained the same – to provide musicians with world-leading and state-of-the-art instruments to enable what artists do best, play brilliant music. I’m looking forward to working with the team in my new role in achieving the new ambitious growth plans we have set out.”
Mark Gooday added, “We are absolutely delighted to appoint Dan as the new Managing Director of the company. Having worked in the bass industry for 40 years – 25 of those at the helm of Ashdown – the time has come to step down and hand over the future of the company to Dan. There is no better person to lead the company. He has unrivalled insight, experience and expertise to help propel the company globally.”
Stepping down from his role, Mark Gooday will be focusing on Meters Music – a consumer-focused company derived from Ashdown Engineering which produces innovative and high-quality headphones. However, Mark will remain part of the setup at Ashdown Engineering within an advisory role.
