Austrian Audio To Debut CC8-SC at AES

Austrian Audio will be at AES 2025 in Long Beach, CA, October 23-24, 2025, presenting the new CC8-SC. It is the company’s second pencil mic, but this time with a supercardioid polar pattern instead of a cardioid pattern.

The CC8-SC uses the OCC7 true condenser capsule inspired by the legendary CK1 capsule. Small diaphragm microphones like the CC8-SC are often used as spot-microphones in ensembles or for other applications where a high degree of focus on the sound source is desired.

Based on the foundation of the CC8 microphone, Austrian Audio developed a new pencil mic with a very well-developed supercardioid polar pattern. The result is the CC8-SC which efficiently blocks sound coming from the side.

The OCC7 capsule with true condenser technology combined with the transformerless circuitry delivers a carefully tailored  frequency response. The microphone can handle extremely high sound pressure levels (up to 155 dB SPL), which in combination with a low self-noise of only 13 dB (A) results in an impressive dynamic range. Fast transients and spatial information are captured in detail and, above all, without distortion. The CC8-SC always sounds naturally open and is neither harsh nor sharp, even at extreme volumes. Unwanted resonances do not occur, which means that EQ can be used for creative sound shaping.

In addition to its outstanding sound characteristics, the CC8-SC has an extremely robust housing, with helpful features such as pad and high-pass filter switching built-in.

Key features:

  • True condenser technology
  • High precision supercardioid pattern
  • Transformerless design—classic sound using modern technology
  • Best-in-class off-axis response
  • Out-of-the box matched paired with any other CC8-SC due to factory calibration (+/-0,5dB @1kHz)
  • Rugged metal housing, cap, and grille
  • Switchable high-pass filter (60Hz, 120 Hz)
  • Switchable Pad (0, -10 dB, -20 dB) to enable to sound undistorted up to 155 dB

Content of Package & Pricing:

The CC8-SC will be available in the US for $599, in Europe for €499 and in the UK for £449. The mic comes with an OCH8 Mic clip 18mm, a CCW8 Windscreen, and Carry Case.
