Alfred Appoints Cabaniss to Head Sacred Division

Alfred Music has announced the formation of Alfred Sacred, a new division devoted to sacred music publishing. Mark Cabaniss has been appointed managing director of this new division which is based in Nashville. Alfred Sacred also includes the H.W. Gray choral catalog and Jubilate Music. Jubilate Music was founded by Mark Cabaniss in 2009 during his tenure as head of Word Music. Jubilate has experienced steady growth and become a reliable music source for church musicians coast-to-coast.

Alfred Music first entered the church music market in 1990 and has since developed a large catalog of church choral and instrumental publications, ranging from adult choral anthems, extended works, and folios to children’s songs and musicals.

Cabaniss is a 24-year veteran of the print music industry. During his career, he founded and led the church music division at Hal Leonard Corporation for a decade, followed by leading other major music publishers Shawnee Press and Word Music. He is a published composer/arranger/playwright and a multiple ASCAP award recipient with over 100 compositions in print. He is also a Dove Award and Angel Award-winning producer. 

In addition to his work in the music business, Cabaniss serves as an adjunct instructor of music business at Belmont University in Nashville. Cabaniss is also the founder and donor of The Helen Cole Krause Music Scholarship, given to deserving students annually who choose music as a major in college.  Recently named Mars Hill University’s Outstanding Alumnus of the Year, Cabaniss holds bachelors and masters degrees in Music Education and Communications from Mars Hill University and The University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
