What pedals did residents of US states buy more often than anyone else? Let’s take a look.
The map Reverb created shows the most popular effects pedal in every state, plus Washington D.C. It’s ranked by the total number of pedal purchases in 2024.
In any instance where an effect was the top-seller in multiple states, Reverb awarded it as the winner only in the state with the most purchases. This makes the map more dynamic than it would be otherwise and shows what individual pedals were bought more often than any other by residents in each state.
So, what stands out to Reverb? Ohio showed up big for EarthQuaker Devices, buying more of this year’s Dirt Transmitter reissue than any other pedal. Montana, the “big sky state,” lost out on the Strymon Big Sky to Texas buyers. And 13 states—or roughly 25% of the country—chose a Boss pedal more than any offerings from other brands.
