ddrum unveils the updated SE Flyer 4-piece Shell Pack, featuring several upgrades that enhance this vintage ‘Bop’ configuration. From new lugs gaskets and spurs to a reimagined tom mount with cymbal boom arm, the SE Flyer has received much more than just a facelift complete with a new Vintage Sparkle finish. These improvements stay true to the kit’s compact utility, while delivering the style and sonic quality players expect.

Several enhancements to the SE Flyer benefit not only the functionality and tone of the kit, but also the vintage aesthetic. Reimagining key components from the bottom up, ddrum has upgraded the bass drum spurs to gull wing style, allowing for quick set-up and tear-down while bringing a classic look to the kit. Isolation mounts on the toms have been removed to further improve the kit’s look and sound. The double tom holder has also been redesigned to be more versatile and significantly more reliable. The added cymbal boom arm on the mount is compact and allows for quick and easy cymbal placement. It offers plenty of configurability, with 9 inches in length and a sturdy down tube that’s 7 inches with a 3/4 inch diameter.

The SE Flyer four-piece shell pack includes an 8×12 rack tom, 14×14 floor tom, 14×18 bass drum, and a 5.5×14 snare drum. At 6-ply (toms) and 8-ply (bass and snare), the poplar shells offer a warm brightness in the mid and high ranges, with a smooth playability that’s suitable for both the studio and small venues. The 45-degree bearing edge provides for excellent attack and sustain, and sturdy 1.6 mm triple flanged hoops are secured with simplistic single-point round lugs. The bass drum has a natural lacquer wood hoop and includes a lift for ideal positioning. Remo UT drum heads provide the finishing touch for high-quality sonic performance.

The SE Flyer is available in two wrap finishes: the always-classic and eye-catching White Pearl and the newly introduced Vintage Sparkle, which emulates an aged sparkle of vintage kits. The bass drum has a natural lacquer wood hoop. On the Vintage Sparkle shell pack, ddrum has added a black bass drum hoop with a matching inlay.

Topping off the enhanced functionality, the SE Flyer includes a faster snare throw-off, memory locks for the floor tom legs, a new badge, and rubber grommets on all metal shell points that help reduce wear over time.

Whether a player is a beginner inspired by old-school style or a pro looking for a smaller footprint, the SE Flyer packages up high performance and portability at an approachable pricepoint.

MSRP $459. Cymbals and stands sold separately.
