Dorseyville Middle School of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, recently hired Tower Engineering and Intertech Ci to install twin presentation systems in two large-group instruction rooms, each of which now includes an Ashly Audio nXe4002 network multi-mode amplifier.
“These rooms are on either side of the auditorium, and retractable partitions allow them to operate independently or as part of the auditorium,” explained Jason Godek, project manager with Intertech Ci. “These are large rooms – room for one hundred, or so, each with stadium-style seating. Prior to this installation, they had no unified presentation systems or local sound reinforcement. Now the school is free to schedule different classes and activities that make use of various forms of media.”
Each room has a full Extron presentation system, including a projector, a screen, and a full user-control section with myriad input jacks and ports. Output from the Extron system feeds an Ashly nXe4002 two-channel 400W multi-mode network power amplifier. The two channels in Low-Z mode are used for a single bi-amped Electro-Voice EVF front-loaded loudspeaker. When the partitions are retracted, the systems join the main auditorium system to provide reinforcement for their respective seats.
“The Ashly nXe4002s are really excellent amplifiers,” Godek said. “The sound quality is true and integration with the Extron control system was simple. Perhaps even more importantly for a situation like that faced by Dorseyville Middle School, Ashly has a proven track record of reliability. These amps will serve the school well for many, many years to come.”
