Pbone plastic trombone creator Warwick Music, has received two business and product awards in the last two weeks.
The firm won Midlands Innovation of the Year at the 2016 Midlands Business Awards, followed quickly by another for itsnewest product – pBuzz – designed to introduce children to brass instrument playing, which won Gold in the 2016 Primary Teacher awards.
The West Midlands-based music publishing company, originally headquartered in Coventry and recently relocated to Tamworth, is now a major manufacturer in the global brass instrument market. Having diversified in 2012 from being a sheet music publisher, it became the largest seller of trombones in the world and is responsible for the world’s first all-plastic trumpet, pTrumpet.
The Midlands Business Awards showcase products and services from companies throughout the region. The judges said of WMG: “Very impressive! Great products (that) recognise a need in the market. Their music instruments are now used and prized by children and professionals alike.”
WMG’s latest product, pBuzz, has also achieved Gold in the sought after Practical Pre-School and Primary Teacher Update Awards, now in its 15thyear. pBuzz was tested by childcare professionals and children.
The Award judges enthused: “We loved the bright colour of the instrument and the durable plastic it is made of. [The children] loved exploring the register of the instrument and were amazed at how lengthening and shortening it by means of sliding the outer part made different notes. (A) very useful and clever idea to have the different notes coloured on the inside of the slide. A brilliant instrument at a brilliant price.”
WMG CEO Steven Greenall said: “These two wins are reward for all the exciting developments that WMG have delivered in the past few months. It’s been fantastic to see the business grow, particularly with the launch of pBuzz this summer, and it really is testament to the hard work of our team and our loyal customers, who are so enthusiastic in spreading the word about our instruments.
“We’ve many more exciting things in the pipeline and are by no means slowing down yet! We’re confident that the rest of 2016 will bring further growth for WMG and are looking forward to continuing to deliver innovative musical instruments and unparalleled service for all our customers.”
