With the announcement of its Marching Percussion Festival that will begin next month, Hit Like A Girl is shaking things up yet again. The leading advocacy group for female drummers is coordinating a groundbreaking, two-week, online event to raise awareness and showcase the talented and growing female and gnc drumming community in drum corps, drumlines and marching bands.
HLAG is calling on all marching and pit drummers and percussionists as well as organizations, educators and the drum industry to participate in the event by posting and sharing relevant, community-created, solo or ensemble content on their social pages from October 25th through November 7th with the hashtag #hlagontheline.
As of press time, participating supporters include Black Swamp, Cympad, Drum Channel, GirlsMarch, Gridbook Percussion, Ludwig, Paiste, Pearl, Sabian, Vic Firth, Yamaha, and Zildjian with more top companies expected to sign-on in the coming days.
Jamese Moses, Champion of the 2019 HLAG Marching Percussion Contest and advisor to the 2021 HLAG Marching Percussion Festival, explains, “This year, instead of a competition, we wanted to create an open space where every girl can show their skills and every company can help with the lift. Coming together to take advantage of the incredible reach of social media will provide a powerful, global platform and allow us to connect with a larger audience than ever before.”
