Excelcia Music Publishing has announced the hiring of Jamey Ray as choral editor. In addition to creating the well-known a cappella group, Voctave, Ray is an accomplished singer, arranger, composer, teacher and producer, and he brings the wealth of those experiences to Excelcia Music Publishing. In his role as choral editor, Ray will identify new composers to publish with Excelcia Music Publishing as well as curate, edit and produce the highest quality school choral music, recordings and educational resources for new releases.

“Growing up in the choral world and having such a love for everything choral makes this endeavor with Excelcia Music Publishing more than thrilling for me,” Ray explains. “I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of something so wonderful and I look forward to many years of helping to realize great choral music.”

Larry Clark, president of Excelcia Music Publishing, remarks that “Jamey is the perfect addition to the Excelcia Music Publishing team. With a depth of understanding of choral music and years of experience as a singer, arranger, composer and educator, Jamey will help to define the Excelcia difference – to surpass the needs of our choral composers, educators and students – and thereby publish the highest quality school choral music. Jamey has it all.”

Originally from Clearwater, Florida, Ray is a professor of music at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. A well-known arranger and composer of choral music, Jamey’s pieces have been top sellers and featured on many state festival lists. His contemporary arrangements have been performed by members of Pentatonix, Avalon, cast members on 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, American Idol alumae, and hundreds of Broadway performers. As a performer, he has worked with artists ranging from the London Symphony Orchestra to Disney’s Voices of Liberty.  In 2015, Jamey formed the well-known a cappella group, Voctave, which has multiple #1 songs and albums and has ranked in the top 25 Billboard Magazine’s charts. In addition to singing with Voctave, Ray produces and arranges its music. He grew up singing from a young age with the prestigious Florida Boychoir, and went onto earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Computer Science, specializing in voice and piano, from Rollins College, and a Masters in Music Technology from New York University.
