Steve Harvey, former editor in chief of Blaze Publishing’s Acoustic magazine, has joined Martin as international marketing consultant – Europe.
In the newly-created consultancy role for the brand, Harvey will assume the responsibility for enhancing Martin’s brand presence across Europe, working closely with the company’s distributors – Westside in the UK – and international sales management team.
Harvey entered the MI industry in 2002, working as managing editor of Bass Guitar magazine, at Oyster House Media. In 2004, Harvey became a director of Oyster House Media and helped launch Acoustic, serving as its editor for its first four years. In 2008 he became part of the writing team for Guitarist magazine.
“Steve brings to the Martin Guitar company a wealth of MI industry knowledge and expertise that will greatly enhance our marketing and branding efforts throughout Europe”, said Amani Duncan, VP brand marketing. “With our growing presence outside of the U.S., Steve will be a wonderful addition to our organisation as we believe having him as “boots on the ground” will provide our valued distributors and International Sales Managers with a key resource.”
“Acoustic guitar is and has always been my first love”, added Harvey. “I have thoroughly enjoyed both tenures at Acoustic, and I shall particularly miss overseeing the London music shows, but the offer to work with the world’s most famous and respected acoustic guitar manufacturer is too good an opportunity to miss. I am looking forward to utilising the experience I have gained within the MI industry over the past fifteen years or so, as well as take on new and exciting challenges with Martin Guitar.”
