The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance has announced that Gibson Brands will be sponsoring two of eight scholarships available for students hoping to join its intensive one year Higher Diploma course. The award offers the successful entrants fully-funded places (worth £5,950 for UK based students and £7,200 for international students) on the course, which is specifically designed to fast-track students' development and encourage them to discover their creative potential. Alongside the scholarship, Gibson will provide each guitar winner with a Les Paul Futura 2014 Guitar.
Gibson Brands will be joining other prestigious industry leaders in sponsoring these awards. The scholarship categories are as follows:
GUITAR: Supported by Gibson Brands and Total Guitar Magazine
DRUMS: Supported by Zildjian and Drummer Magazine
BASS: Supported by Ernie Ball, Music Man and Bass Guitar Magazine
VOCALS: Supported by Shure
A panel of expert judges has now chosen between three to five finalists in each instrument category for both UK and international students. All the finalists chosen will attend an interview and a Live Final where the winners will be selected by a panel including the Higher Diploma Programme Leader, Institute Tutors and sponsor representatives. As this is the first year of separate International Scholarships the final for these will be held online using Google Hangout, and will be streamed live on the Institute’s YouTube channel.
