HUG Ukulele introduces three new Handmade Ukulele models at the 2023 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif. A premium addition to the ukulele line, Handmade Ukuleles capture the essence of the Hawaiian islands while taking a more sustainable approach to material selection and production. True to their name, these acoustic ukuleles are handcrafted with a choice of gorgeous Koa, Hawaiian Mango, and Monkeypod woods for the body. With each tone wood model available in four different sizes, the Handmade Ukuleles each have a sonic character that’s as unique as their aesthetic.

At HUG Ukulele, “quality meets culture,” and that tradition is reflected in every aspect of the new Handmade Ukuleles, from the selection of the finest woods that are ethically and sustainably sourced, to the skilled craftsmanship that goes into each instrument. The Koa models boast the warm, rich sound that the Hawaiian native wood is famous for. Hawaiian Mango models, with their unique grain patterns, produce a bright and vibrant tone that captures the essence of the tropical island. The Monkeypod models provide a mellow, sweet sound, ideal for those seeking classic, traditional tone. Each model has an environmentally conscious hand-rubbed finish that enhances their natural beauty and sound.

HUG Ukulele Handmade Ukuleles offer four varied sizes: Baritone, Tenor, Concert, and Soprano. Each model In combination with the three unique tone woods, each size contributes to the instrument’s distinct sonic character. Baritone ukuleles are the largest and have a deep, rich tone that’s often compared to that of a classical guitar. Tenor ukuleles offer a warm, rich sound that’s well-suited for fingerpicking and strumming. Concert ukuleles are known to have a bright, cheerful tone that’s perfect for playing traditional Hawaiian music. Soprano ukuleles are the smallest of the four sizes and have a bright, high-pitched sound that’s ideal for playing melodies and simple chord progressions.

When it comes to material choice, HUG Ukulele doesn’t just stop at the body, ensuring that these Handmade Ukuleles have the authentic sound and feel that players expect from a high-quality instrument. Mahogany is used for the fretboard, bridge, and neck, providing strength and stability and enhancing tonal resonance. The bone nut and saddle help vibration transfer while maintaining clarity and sustain, contributing to each ukulele’s authentic, vibrant tone.

HUG Ukulele completes its Handmade design with its signature wave headstock and fluorocarbon strings, which offer clear tone, improve durability, and resist stretching.

For intermediate and experienced ukulele players looking to level up their sound, their Handmade Ukuleles are authentic, exceptionally crafted, and road-worthy instruments that will last for years to come.

MSRP by size: Baritone – $1695; Tenor – $1495; Concert, $1295, and Soprano, $1095.

2023 NAMM Show attendees can say “aloha” to new Handmade Ukuleles and get a closer look at Booth 6207. Visit www.hugukulele.com to learn more.
