New for 2023, Ibanez has introduced their new FRN10H acoustic guitar. This new offering from Ibanez looks familiar in that it shares a common lineage with the TOD10N, Tim Henson’s signature model unveiled in October of last year. The FRN10H features a 50mm body depth, making it quite a bit thinner than most conventional acoustic instruments. The body is comprised of a solid Sitka Spruce top, and Sapele back and sides, while the neck is made of Nyatoh and capped with a Walnut fretboard.
One important feature that carries over form the TOD10N is the use of fan bracing. This type of bracing it generally used on classical guitars, and as such, imparts a similar tonality and timbre to the FRH10N. Other notable features include a wider 46mm nut, 15.7” fretboard radius, a side sound port and Ibanez Custom electronics paired with an Ibanez T-bar Under saddle pickup. This design affords similar creative possibilities to the TOD10N, but it is aimed at those preferring a more traditional aesthetic.
