The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) has struck a new partnership with Tileyard Studios based in Kings Cross, Central London.

Tileyard Studios is the largest professional music community in the UK, with more than 70 state of the art music studios and 100 businesses that provide a home to a wide spectrum of companies working in music, film, television, fashion and creative new tech sectors. Artists and companies at Tileyard include Mark Ronson, Tynchy Stryder, The Prodigy, John Newman, Lily Allen, Notting Hill Music, Marathon Artists, Spitfire Audio, Musicgurus, The Ticket Fairy and many more.

The move will provide ICMP students with an opportunity to study in and engage with an immersive industry environment, building their networks amongst some of the music industry’s biggest names.

Harry Leckstein, managing director, Tileyard Education, said: “Tileyard Studios, and our new company Tileyard Education, are committed to developing the highest quality music and creative industry training, harnessing our world-leading professional skills base, community and networks. We are delighted to welcome the ICMP to Tileyard, marking the first of several major new education partnerships and programs to be announced.

“Tileyard Studios is a creative community where artists and musicians thrive and is located in Kings Cross, an exciting central London location within easy reach of ICMP’s Kilburn home. We are very excited therefore to become part of that community. Our vision, to see our graduates shaping the future of the music industry, aligns perfectly with the ethos of Tileyard Studios. And with over 80% of ICMP graduates already in work or in further study within 6 months of graduation, and over two thirds working within the creative industries, we are confident that this opportunity will further provide our students with an unrivalled experience.

Paul Kirkham, Chief Executive at ICMP, added: “We are really excited to announce this partnership with Tileyard Studios. It will provide ICMP with access to fantastic new education facilities at Tileyard Studios for teaching and learning, as well as establishing our provision at the heart of the global music industry. Our goal has always been to provide ICMP students with the tools, knowledge and experience to enable them to build on their talent and creativity and make successful and rewarding careers. In the first stage, ICMP will have access to teaching and learning facilities, recording studios and live rooms as well as threewriting/mixing rooms to allow our students to work collectively on music creation and production and harness their skills in a studio environment. Students will also have access to technology suites for interactive teaching, plus a wide range of support, mentoring and networking opportunities.

Tileyard facilities will become available to final year and post-grad students in phases from September.
