One of Glasgow’s most iconic guitar stores has opened its doors to a new premises in the West End of the city.
Jimmy Egypt’s Guitar Repair Shop has moved to a site on Great Western Road after decades spent in nearby Otago Lane.
Owner Jimmy Cannell, commented: “I’m very excited about our new store. It’s in an interesting location and more people in the city will know where we are now. It took four months for us get the store ready but its been worth it.”
Cannell started off life manufacturing his own line of ‘Egypt’ guitars from his factory in the early 1980’s, before branching out to open a repair store business.
While the store also sells specialised guitars, the repair business is at the heart of the ‘Jimmy Egypt’ name, and the new location allows for passers-by to see Jimmy in action at the bench in the window.
