When Duncan Perry approached John Barton of Friendly River Music about offering ukulele instruction to first responders and health care workers, John immediately decided to call Bill Peterson at Kala Brand Music. Friendly River has been a Kala dealer for many years and stocks imported as well as American made Kala ukuleles.
John explained that he has known Duncan for a number of years, and that Duncan has stellar reputation as a ukulele instructor who has taught over four hundred students. Duncan has also worked with the Trauma Intervention Program, and understands first hand the stresses facing first responders. Duncan decided that it was time for him to give something back.
Bill Peterson discussed Duncan’s proposal with John, and immediately said that Kala wanted to get involved. In less than one week a dozen Kala ukuleles arrived at Friendly River Music for Duncan’s program. John observed, “Bill did not send entry level instruments. He and Kala provided some very nice instruments, and even covered shipping costs.”
With Kala’s support, Duncan’s program is off to a great start. His virtual classes are full and the feedback from students has been overwhelming.
