Kawai America debuted a new model in their award-winning ‘ES’ series of portable digital pianos at the recent NAMM show in Anaheim.
The new ES120 replaces the popular ES110 portable piano and compliments the larger ES520 and ES920 models. Upgraded attributes include a quieter action, connectivity to Kawai’s PianoRemote and PiabookPlayer apps for iOS and Android, and Low Volume Balance which balances the tone when played at low volumes and Bluetooth audio.
The ES120 utilizes the RHC action with 88 grade-weighted keys, giving pianists a smooth, natural and highly authentic playing experience.
The powerful 20-watt stereo speaker system is suitable for living room or small performance venues. The 25 sounds include the latest Shigeru Kawai concert grand sample as well as new electric piano and string voices found in larger ES models. With dual and split modes, record, metronome, registration memories and much more, the ES120 is packed with features typically found on more expensive pianos.
A new highlight is the Low Volume Balance which intelligently adjusts keyboard touch and piano tone characteristics, allowing pianissimo passages to be played smoothly and more naturally when playing through speakers at a reduced volume setting.
The new ES120 incorporates Bluetooth MIDI and Bluetooth audio, which allows wireless connectivity to external devices and audio streaming through the piano’s sound system.
Also featured on the ES120 is Kawai’s exclusive Spatial Headphone Sound technology which enhances the depth and realism when using headphones while reducing ear fatigue when playing for long periods.
“This new model offers consumers a great value, as the touch, tone and advanced features are usually found on much more expensive models”, states Alan Palmer, Kawai’s senior product specialist and development projects manager. “Now with three versatile models in the ES line-up, we feel Kawai portable pianos offer something for everyone.”
The ES120 boasts a redesigned contemporary cabinet, featuring a new stylish bar that runs the length of the instrument and incorporates the control panel. A rugged stand and three-pedal assembly are also available, and the piano and accessories are offered in satin black, satin white and a new modern gray finish.
The new ES120 carries an MSRP of $1,099.00 and is expected to be available in the US in August.
