Reverb, the largest online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments, has announced that sales of like-new gear, which includes b-stock, open box, and mint-with-inventory items, were higher this March than any month since March of 2021. As music makers continue to seek out deals, Reverb sellers with competitively-priced inventory are capitalizing on heightened demand.
Throughout this past quarter, Reverb worked to connect buyers and sellers, bringing awareness to the competitively-priced gear buyers were after:
-
Reverb highlighted sellers’ gear via affinity-based promotions and sales and highlighted affordable listings with a “Great Value” badge on Reverb’s homepage.
-
Competitively-priced gear was surfaced to buyers through personalized recommendations, communications, and content as well as enhancements to search functionality.
-
Additionally, Reverb tested initiatives that could help buyers and sellers better understand pricing trends and tools to enable sellers to better engage and negotiate with budget-conscious buyers.
Despite macroeconomic headwinds, music makers were undeterred when it came to their passion for guitars, synths, pedals, and more throughout the first quarter. In fact, the total number of searches on Reverb were up 35% year-over-year in 2023 compared to 2022—even after an impressive 95% year-over-year increase in searches on the site between Q4 of 2022 and 2021.
“There are near-endless options when it comes to finding the right musical instrument for you. At Reverb, it’s not only our job to connect music makers with sellers that can get them the gear they need, but to help them uncover that new fuzz pedal they never knew existed – and at a price point that matches their budget,” said David Mandelbrot, Reverb’s Chief Executive Officer. “By utilizing Reverb, sellers are able to reach the millions of music makers that trust our platform to help them find a great deal while searching for their next sound.”
