Lloyd Ryan, one of the UK’s most acclaimed drum tutors, teaching the likes of Phil Collins, has joined the Sakae Drums endorsee roster.
With a career spanning four decades, Ryan has taught Phil Collins, Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai), Graham Broad (Roger Waters, Tina Turner), Ralph Salmins (Robbie Williams, Van Morrison, Björk), John Coghlan (Status Quo) and Nick Simms (Cornershop).
He has also performed with an array of prominent drummers, including the Ken Mackintosh, Ray Ellington, Bob Miller and Edmundo Ros Big Bands, as well as major recording artists like Matt Munro, Tony Christie, Gene Vincent, PJ Proby, Cilla Black, Brotherhood Of Man and The Platters.
“My reputation is on the line with any kit I play, so the quality of the product has to match the quality of my playing,” Ryan commented. “I’ve got to have a fast Snare drum for live work and I find Sakae’s product very, very responsive. I could not put my name with a company that isn’t top quality and I find Sakae’s thin-shelled drums excellent. This is the brand for me.”
