Martin Guitar has won the battle to regain rightful ownership of its trademarks for guitars and strings in China.
While some of the brand’s enthusiasts have wrongly interpreted it as a move towards moving manufacturing to China, it is merely designed to protect the brand against counterfeit products coming out of the Chinese market.
“I think it is incredibly important to note that we regained our trademarks in the PRC solely through processes afforded us in the Chinese government administrative agencies and the Chinese courts,” added Greg Paul, chief technology officer. “In short, while it has taken some time, the Chinese legal system ultimately got it right. This is not the story people are used to hearing about China and intellectual property.”
“I look forward to the opportunity to legitimately market the Martin Guitar brand in a very enthusiastic market,” said CEO & Chairman Chris Martin IV.
