On October 4 2021, The Hazan Media Group announced in an email that it would be halting publication of The Music & Sound Retailer, Sound & Communications, and DJ Times.
“We are not alone in believing in these businesses and our longtime team,” read the message. “We sincerely hope they live on in some shape or form in the very near future. But that story has yet to be told.

The Music & Sound Retailer and Testa Communications founder and longtime publisher Vinny Testa passed away in April of this year. The Hazan Media Group had been publishing the three now-shuttered titles for the past four months.
