Looks like the London Drum Show has a rival in the form of a new event from Torn and Frayed, organiser of The Guitar Show, held in the Midlands.
The firm has dipped a toe into the percussion market with The Drum Show, which will take place in Milton Keynes at the MK Arena from September 17th-18th this year.
Brands including Tama, Zildjian, Natal, Schlagwerk, Aquarian, Vic Firth and UFIP have already been confirmed. The show is pitching itself as three events in one, with the exhibition area complemented by the National Drum Fair and the drumBEAT world record attempt also taking place over the weekend. Running alongside The Drum Show, the National Drum Fair, specifically for vintage and custom drums, will allow visitors to get hands-on with rare and classic drums, find spares for restoration projects and more.
Meanwhile, organised in memory of Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes, Kate Fenney (co-founder of The Music Shipping Company) and Eleri McBay (wife of guitarguitar founder Kip McBay), drumBEAT aims to break the world record for the largest number of drummers playing the same pattern simultaneously by bringing together 1001 drummers (on full kits) at Stadium MK on Sunday September 18th. The record attempt is being held in support of the Brain Tumour Charity and is being organised by Natal Drums, Marshall Amplification and The Music Shipping Company.
Aquarian Accessories, Shaw Percussion, Rhythm Magazine, Cympad, Hearos, and several other manufacturers are also contributing to the event by providing hearing protection and other items free of charge to all who take part.
Details of live clinics will also be announced shortly.
