Pearl/Adams was very well represented at the 2013 Drum Corps International World Championships, hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.  Held August 6th-10th, DCI Finals Week showcased the top drum and bugle corps in the world, such as the defending DCI Champion Blue Devils who received the DCI World Class Silver Medal, and The Phantom Regiment and Spirit of Atlanta who both continued their finals appearance streaks.

The week’s events began Tuesday, August 6th in Michigan City, IN for Open Class Championship competition, where Blue Devils B received the Silver Medal with a score of 95.70, as well as the Open Class High Percussion Title for the 5th straight year!  Fellow Open Class corps 7th Regiment received 7th place with a score of 86.60.

DCI Finals week also included the Individual & Ensemble Festival, held outdoors on Indianapolis’ Georgia Street. Participating corps members competed in both solo and ensemble settings, judged by DCI sanctioned adjudicators. Members of the Blue Devils percussion section Patrick Daniel, Chris Drummer, Kaito Haruta took top honors in the Keyboard, Multi-tenor, and Snare drum categories respectively.  The Blue Devils Percussion Ensemble also won the Perc. Ensemble category, while Spirit of Atlanta’s Cymbal Ensemble took 1st place in cymbal ensemble competition.

Thursday brought the start of championship competition at Lucas Oil Stadium, seeing a total of 36 both Open Class and World Class corps perform in a full day of pageantry.  The Cascades, Seattle, WA, performed their show “Luminous”, wrapping up their season in 27th place, while Blue Devils B placed 20th overall, advancing them to the Semifinals event on Friday.  Semifinals competition featured the top 25 corps from prelims, where The Troopers placed 13th with their show “The Magnificent 11”, just 0.15 out of 12th place and an appearance in DCI Finals.

The season culminated on Saturday, August 10th at DCI Championships, with Pearl/Adams represented by 3 of 12 performing corps.  Spirit’s performance of their production “Speakeasy” placed them in 11th overall with a score of 86.40.  The Phantom Regiment’s show “A Triumphant Journey” earned the corps 6th place overall with a score of 93.25.  The Blue Devils finished off their season with an amazing performance of their production “The Re:rite of Spring”, earning the DCI World Class Silver Medal and placing 2nd overall in percussion.
