Pioneer DJ Americas, Inc. recently announced that it has appointed industry veteran andCalifornia native, John Powell, to the position of president effective April 1, 2019. Powell willoversee all Pioneer DJ Americas operations, thus taking over responsibilities from current president, Yoshinori Kataoka. Further, Mr. Kataoka will be moving to the role of Pioneer DJ Corporation chairman and COO at Japan headquarters on the same date.
Powell first joined Pioneer DJ in summer of 2017 as Senior Vice President of Sales and hasimplemented an innovative and successful sales strategy which has led to double-digitsales growth for the Torrance-based organization. Powell’s appointment confirms PioneerDJ’s commitment to continuing its growth and reinforcing its market presence as the globalleader in DJ technology and pro audio solutions.

The new President brings an impressive and highly respected executive history in audio,having served in numerous leadership roles at JBL International, Harman and BostonAcoustics. John Powell is a graduate of California State University Northridge and a BetaGamma Sigma lifetime member.
