“DXMX,” an exciting, entertaining and educational new drum festival, is set to launch in Mexico City, Mexico on April 27. The event features many of Mexico’s top drummers and percussionists along with a special guest artist who will be announced in the coming days.
Sponsored by Aquarian Drumheads, Dorado Practice Pads, Montano Drumsticks, Pulpo Custom Heads, and TRX Cymbals— and supported by Escuela de Música DIM and the international percussion education organization, Percussive Arts Society (PAS)— DXMX will be held from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 27.
DXMX artists and workshops will include: Chuz Estrada (Jesse & Joy), fusion workshop; Tony & Virgilio Zaldivar (Margarita la Diosa de la cumbia, Bilbao), studio workshop; Chris Gomez (Parazit), rock workshop; Bruno Ramirez (Edith Marquez and MX Fusión), Latin workshop; Erick Carrillo, jazz workshop; Moty Baketas, pop workshop; Raul Vargas, technique workshop.
The festival will offer giveaways and opportunities for attendees to “meet and greet” the performers, as well as special guests and celebrities. Although admission is free, everyone is requested to make a donation to benefit local drummers Alex Gomez and Winston Marcos, who are battling serious health issues. Food service will also be available.
