Music & Arts brought its recipe for musical instrument lessons, retail, and repairs services to 14 new communities across the country during the 2018 summer season, with several acquisitions and the opening of new locations. The retailer’s service-driven model now serves 192 locations across the U.S., enabling aspiring musicians of all ages to explore and develop their musical skills.
From June through August, new stores debuted in Fairview Heights, IL; Latham, NY; Chandler, AZ; Altamonte Springs, FL; Goodyear, AZ; and Summerlin, NV. These were complemented by the acquisition of Gard’s Music (all three locations) in SoCal; Jent’s House of Music (both locations) in NorthWest TX; Rocketeria in Olney, MD; Melk Music in Muskego, WI; and Draisen Edwards Music in Anderson, SC.
“Growth helps us enable our mission: to ensure access to high-quality music education in towns and school districts across the U.S.,” notes Music & Arts president Steve Zapf. “A strong music education during childhood provides a great foundation for learning, and we’re proud to play this role in the lives of children.” Zapf concludes, “In addition to opening new stores, Music & Arts has also been acquiring strong independent music retailers who are ready for a change and wish to monetize the years of hard work they have invested in their business.”
