Cort Guitars Adds Exotic Bocote Tonewood to Flagship Gold Series of Acoustics

Cort Guitars brings a new exotic tonewood to its flagship acoustic series with the introduction of the Gold-A6 Bocote and Gold-OC6 Bocote. The bocote sides and back on the new Gold Series models make them even more enticing with a majestic wood grain pattern in yellow, orange, and dark brown colors with distinct black lines. Players can enjoy a new aesthetic that brings together all the sonic enhancements that have made the Gold Series Cort’s premier acoustic lineup.

Originating in Central America to the Northern Amazon, bocote is tonally similar to rosewood and provides a warm, deep bass, broad spectrum of mids, and plenty of volume with long sustain. It ideally matches the premium grade solid Sitka spruce top, a hallmark of the Gold Series that offers a brilliant and clear high-end, warm and rich midrange, and deep but tight low-end for a beautifully balanced combination of tones. Cort uses its special ATV (aged-to-vintage) torrefaction process to treat the solid Sitka, giving it the big, open tone of a decades-old acoustic right out of the box.

On the Gold-A6 Bocote, the Auditorium body is sized perfectly in between the large dreadnought and more intimate Grand Concert, with a 1 ¾” (45mm) nut width making it a versatile acoustic for strumming, flatpicking, and fingerstyle playing. The Gold-OC6 is a finger-style playing dream offering a classic OM orchestra model with a 1 11/16” (43mm) nut, and cutaway body style, delivering a much larger sound than its compact size would indicate and excellent dynamic responsiveness.

Both Gold Series Bocote models have a Fishman® Flex Blend System that offers a wide range of sonic control. Volume, Tone, Phase, Blend and built-in Tuner functions are all available from three knobs and the tuner display. Players can adjust the Tone knob to best suit fingerpicking or strumming techniques without feedback issues and other sonic anomalies to deliver the most natural acoustic sound to their amplification system.

When it comes to sonic enhancements, no detail of the Gold Series is overlooked, from the hand-scalloped X-bracing underneath the top to the sonically enhanced UV Natural Gloss finish. The 25.3-inch scale Bocote models have a walnut-reinforced neck connected by Cort’s DoubleLock dovetail neck joint to maximize the transfer of tone and enhance resonance. The mahogany neck is hand-finished to optimize playability, and offers a hand-rolled fret edge treatment, a boutique-style technique that dresses the frets and makes them round, smooth, and ultra-comfortable to play. The 20-fret Macassar ebony fingerboard produces a deep, lush sound with transparent highs, and the wood’s detailed grains add a luxurious high-end look. A corresponding ebony bridge keeps the fundamental acoustic sound focused and tight with greater projection and vibrational transfer than plastic. Cort’s Deluxe Vintage Gold tuners, genuine bone nut, abalone rosette, and black binding with triple-ply purfling round out the high-end appointments.

Visually intriguing and tonally captivating, Cort’s Gold-A6 Bocote and Gold-OC6 Bocote models offer a luxurious playing experience at a feasible price point. A stylish Cort Deluxe Soft-Side case is included with purchase.
