Since 2011, Hawaiian Ukulele & Guitar has been combining modern preferences with time-honored Hawaiian traditions. HUG is thrilled to return in person to the 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif. on June 3, with its new Solid Black Acacia Ukulele in tow. The acacia wood alternative is much more affordable than regular koa, without sacrificing the quality and authentic feel. Each ukulele has a black acacia top and laminate acacia back and sides, and is finished in wood and abalone for a splash of sophistication.
HUG crafted this instrument, available in concert (24-inch scale) and tenor (26-inch scale) sizes, with a mahogany C-shaped neck to provide a sturdy feel and strong mid-range. Each Black Acacia Ukulele features a synthetic rosewood fingerboard and bridge along with HUG’s Ocean Wave headstock and enclosed gear tuners. HUG puts the finishing touch on this model with a thinly applied layer of high gloss lacquer finish, allowing the natural woods to shine both aesthetically and sonically.
