Christie’s will present Marr’s Guitars: The Johnny Marr Collection, an auction of guitars, amps and equipment from the career of guitarist, songwriter and former Smiths member Johnny Marr.

The auction is scheduled for Sept. 17 in London and will include about 95 lots. Estimates range from £1,000 to £150,000. The collection includes instruments associated with Marr’s work with The Smiths, The Pretenders, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse, The Cribs and his solo career.

Among the highlighted instruments are Marr’s 1982 Rickenbacker 330 Jetglo, a 1960 Cherry Red Gibson ES-355, a Roger Giffin Korina Telecaster-style guitar from about 1984, a 1971 Martin D-28, a 1984 Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar in Comet Sparkle from 2017.

Christie’s said several guitars in the auction were recently used during the recording of Marr’s album The Age Of Everything, which is scheduled for release Oct. 2. Marr will donate the hammer price of 10 lots to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and The National Autistic Society.

A free pre-sale exhibition is scheduled for Sept. 9-16 at Christie’s headquarters in London. The auction catalog and additional information are available at christies.com/johnnymarr.
