Roland announces the P-6 Creative Sampler, the latest addition to the growing AIRA Compact family of portable instruments for modern music creators. The P-6 packs renowned Roland sampling technology into a pocket-size gadget with sophisticated granular sound design options and a powerful sequencer. Equipped with an onboard mic, intuitive controls, a USB-C audio/MIDI interface, and a versatile selection of hands-on MFX, the P-6 delivers exceptional sampling and performance capabilities on the go.

The P-6 is ideal for any level of music creator, from beginner to pro. Top-level tactile controls and pads encourage jamming and sound tweaking the moment the user powers up. And when they’re ready, they can go deeper with advanced features for cutting-edge sonic manipulation and performance.

Whether using the built-in mic, analog inputs, or a smartphone via USB-C, the P-6 is always ready to sample at a moment’s notice. After capturing sounds, it’s easy to chop up longer samples for triggering from the onboard keyboard or combine multiple sounds with Step Sampling and resampling features. There’s also a curated selection of hands-on MFX, including Vinyl Simulator, DJFX Looper, Stopper, Lo-fi, Scatter, Phaser, Resonator, and more.

The advanced granular sampling tools in the P-6 unlock a universe of microscopic sound design. Users can transform tiny moments into sonic landscapes with the ability to detune samples, adjust the grain shape, play with head position, head speed, spread, and more. From clean and pristine to beautifully mangled, it’s simple to conjure new sound dimensions with a twist of a knob or a press of a button.

The P-6 offers deep sequencing features that push the boundaries of music programming. Users can jam with 64-step patterns powered by dynamic sequencing elements like motion recording, probability, micro-timing, off-grid sequencing, and sub steps. With the Step Loop function, it’s possible to manipulate playback in real time for creative improvs and instant stutter effects.

The P-6 SampleTool software for macOS and Windows is a handy companion for editing and transferring samples between a computer and the P-6. Users can clean up clicks with snap to zero, truncate to remove unwanted sections, normalize to standardize audio levels, and use downsampling for gritty, lo-fi sound creation.

About the AIRA Compact Series

The growing lineup of AIRA Compact instruments lets anyone jam, perform, and develop ideas on the go with friendly tactile controls, inspiring sounds, and loads of intuitive music tools. Along with the new P-6 Creative Sampler, the current lineup includes the S-1 Tweak Synth, T-8 Beat Machine, J-6 Chord Synthesizer, and E-4 Voice Tweaker.

AIRA Compact users can realize complete compositions with a single unit or expand their possibilities by connecting and synchronizing with other AIRA Compact models. Multiple AIRA Compacts can be mixed and monitored with headphones or an external speaker system using the last device in the chain. The new P-6 provides digital audio transfer over USB-C, making it an ideal master unit for livestreaming AIRA Compact performances and recording in mobile music apps and computer DAWs.

Availability & Pricing

The Roland AIRA Compact P-6 Creative Sampler is available in the U.S. now for $219.99.*
