Yamaha introduces the MODX+ synthesizer. The MODX+ improves on the popular MODX synthesizers with significant flexibility and performance for discerning musicians and producers. It features larger memory, greater polyphony and improved controls, keeping the same high-quality build and, lightweight and compactness as the original.

MODX+ features 1.75 GB of internal flash memory, an upgrade of 75 percent compared to the original models, giving musicians more space for custom samples and synth sound libraries. The plus also stands for more polyphony. The 128-note stereo AWM2 AND 128-note FM-X polyphony (increased from 64-note polyphony on MODX) allow for extended playability and more freedom in sound design. Both the modulation and pitch bend wheels have been upgraded to the same components used in MONTAGE for improved playability and lending the MODX+ a proper MONTAGE feel.

All these improvements enhance the already brilliant experience of the original Yamaha MODX without compromising its strengths. MODX+ still features two sound engines: AWM2 stereo samples for authentic and organic instrument sounds and FM-X frequency modulation synthesis for expressive and inspirational synth sounds. Plus, up to 13 simultaneous Dual Insert effects and three additional Master effects to shape the sound to perfection. Seamless Sound Switching prevents notes from cutting off when switching Performances. The extensive preset library covers a wide range of sounds and compatibility with MONTAGE, MOTIF XS/XF, MOXF and even DX and TX sounds (via the free FM converter on YamahaSynth.com). With Motion Control and an extensive control matrix, all these sounds can be performed, mixed and combined dynamically. The MODX+ is a real workhorse for musicians.

Just like its predecessors, the Yamaha MODX+ series features three different models to address the specific needs and requirements of different types of musicians.

  • MODX6+: Features 61 semi-weighted keys for sound designers and producers wanting deep synthesis capabilities.
  • MODX7+: Features 76 semi-weighted keys for keyboardists needing a wide variety of sound, including all the layering and splitting they might need.
  • MODX8+: Features 88 graded hammer keys for the authentic acoustic piano touch discerning pianists.

Pricing and Availability

MODX8+: MAP $2,199.00

MODX7+: MAP $1,699.00

MODX6+: MAP $1,499.00
