D’Addario has announced that the third season of “Guitar Power” will premiere Tuesday, April 18 with new host Dweezil Zappa, exclusively with Ultimate-Guitar.com.
Guitar Power is the first flagship series to discuss what is new and next in sound, style and technique for guitarists. Different esteemed guitar players come on the show as guests to chat about their careers and how they believe the guitar’s role has changed in modern music.
“I see ‘Guitar Power’ as the appetizer course for a great meal,” Zappa said. “Growing up as a guitarist I was always curious about how other guitarists developed their own styles and techniques. After 3 decades of playing I’m even more curious and fascinated by this creative process. I love that ‘Guitar Power’ exists as a vehicle to shine a spotlight on this process and I wish it was around when I first started learning to play. As a viewer of past seasons, I have found myself intrigued and inspired to find out more about each of the guitarists that have been featured.”
While Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters, solo) is the first guest of the season, other 2017 guests include Wayne Kramer (MC5), Wayne Krantz, Elliot Easton (The Cars), Zane Carney, and Frank Gambale.
“When I was asked to become the host of the show, I was very excited to have the opportunity to continue this tradition,” Zappa added. “I have a genuine enthusiasm for sharing guitar playing knowledge. Ultimately, I hope to be able to help make the show relatable to non-guitarists as well, by demystifying musical and technical terms with simple translations and a bit of humor. I feel like it’s destination viewing – it opens a portal in your mind that exposes you to unique information and spontaneous musical moments from emerging and established players. I find that to be inspirational.”
