This role requires a highly organized, detailed individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills that can effectively resolve technical issues and represent the Steinway & Sons brands of pianos. Main Responsibilities: • Provide technical telephone and e-mail support to dealers, technicians, and piano owners • Troubleshoot technical obstacles and provide appropriate guidance for a resolution • Accurately determine factory warranty authorizations for field repair or replacement • Administer warranty claim costs, generate reports and communicate with production staff on trends • Provide historical piano information and answer general information inquiries • Assist with factory tours • Other duties as required to support department and company initiatives. Requirements • Experience and deep knowledge in servicing Steinway & Sons pianos, including Spirio, is required. • Excellent customer service skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills • Ability to determine customer needs and provide appropriate solutions • Knowledge of SPIRIO design and service to effectively communicate with field service personnel • Experience with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook) • Organizational skills with the ability to work as part of a team • Previous piano service training or employment with Steinway in piano service is a plus Salary Description $50-55k APPLY NOW Senior Accountant — Astoria, New York City Position Summary: We are looking for a hard-working, highly motivated individual to join our growing Finance and Accounting team. This candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of various work streams, and contributing to the development and implementation of best practices within the accounting and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reporting processes and internal controls. The candidate will utilize excellent time management, organization and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively and work independently to perform a wide array of duties. Main Responsibilities: • Assist with the month-end close process, including ownership over certain monthly activities and account reconciliations for operational accounts. • Own the calculation and report distribution for semi-monthly retail commissions, monthly/quarterly sales bonuses, and annual profitability bonuses. • Own monthly report compilation and distribution for various departments, with a focus on retail. • Act as the primary point of contact for retail financial questions. • Manage Lease accounting and reporting to corporate team. • Supervise staff accountants, which will include reviewing specific areas and gaining a more thorough understanding of current processes in order to make incremental improvements. • Execute daily and monthly functions to support the Steinway & Sons team in accurately processing accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal controls • Assist with annual budgeting process • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of existing processes and proposing enhancements • Assist in the accumulation of support for the Company’s annual audit and quarterly reviews. • Provide reporting and analysis on specific programs that are implemented. • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financials statements and annual tax packages. Requirements • BA/BS degree in Accounting • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience with a Public Accounting firm and/or SEC-registered company • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Active CPA license is required • Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization • Proficient in Excel; must be comfortable analyzing and manipulating large data sets • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines Salary Description $100-110k/yr APPLY NOW Tax & Accounting Manager — Astoria, New York City Position Summary: Steinway & Sons is looking for their next Tax & Accounting Manager. This position supports the Chief Accounting Officer across several key areas. Responsibilities include corporate-level financial reporting and analysis; management of divisional accounting and reporting; leading tax compliance, disclosure, and planning activities; assisting with corporate-level system and process improvements; internal control compliance; and special projects. This role also requires the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate across various functions of the Company, including the Global Leadership Team, FP&A, Divisional Finance, HR, and Legal. Main Responsibilities • Support the global monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process • Assist in ensuring compliance with Company accounting policies and US GAAP • Support pension accounting/disclosure reporting • Support the annual insurance renewal process via data collection and validation from global finance teams • Prepare the consolidated quarterly income tax provision and manage the year-end tax provision preparation and documentation, including required footnote disclosures • Lead and coordinate with external tax consultants, and ensure timely and complete filing of tax extensions, estimated tax payments, and returns • Maintain contemporaneous documentation of transfer pricing policies and practices to ensure compliance with domestic and international tax regulations • Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize the Company’s tax position and align with overall business objectives • Assist in the maintenance of critical accounting policies • Assist with the implementation and documentation of internal financial controls • Prepare annual asset impairment testing analyses • Engage external auditors in technical accounting matters in a timely and comprehensive manner and manage data request lists in a timely and complete manner • Prepare management reports and analyses, to be provide to the Global Leadership Team and other members of the finance organization • Perform special projects and respond to ad-hoc requests Requirements Qualifications • CPA required • 7+ years’ experience in public accounting • Strong US GAAP background • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills and ability to understand the context of the audience (both internal and external) and adapt communication style as necessary • Strong analytical capabilities as demonstrated by use of probing and thoughtful questions to ensure all relevant information is known and incorporated into decision making processes • Ability to plan, multi-task, collaborate, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines • Hands-on demonstrated ability to see the big picture / think broadly while also diving down into operational details • International accounting experience and manufacturing accounting experience, a plus • Experience with Sage Fixed Assets, LeaseQuery, Planful, MS Business Central, and MS Dynamics, a plus The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $140,000-$160,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
