Mapex and Majestic Marching Percussion are proud to announce percussionist Josh Hartwell as the newest addition to our esteemed roster of artists. Based in Houston, Texas, Josh’s wealth of experience and expertise have garnered respect and acclaim within the activity. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from McNeese State University, a master’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), and is a distinguished educator and performer.

Currently, Josh teaches at Pearland High School, where he collaborates with a talented group of educators to foster the next generation of percussionists. Throughout his career, Josh has worked with a variety of high-profile groups, including the Louisiana Stars in Drum Corps International (DCI), and Foothill High School in Winter Guard International (WGI) Scholastic division; taking on roles as director, technician, and composer.

In addition to his work as an educator, Josh is an active clinician, passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with others. His commitment to music education and performance makes him an ideal fit for the Mapex and Majestic family.

On partnering with the Mapex and Majestic, Josh shares, “My first impressions of Mapex/Majestic began in grad school at UNLV. The 3 octave vibraphones and Reflection series 5-octave marimba were some of my favorite instruments to practice and perform on. I always looked up to the tremendous Majestic endorsers of Alex Stopa, James Whiting and Rachel Julian, who all called Las Vegas home. The people behind the scenes with the company are as of similar high character, quality, and integrity as the instruments they offer. Joining as a Mapex and Majestic artist is an incredible honor.”

Hartwell is also co-owner of Flow Percussion & Entertainment, Houston’s premiere professional entertainment percussion service. Flow specializes in providing high-energy entertainment for a multitude of events, including weddings, parades, and corporate gatherings.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Josh on board to Mapex and Majestic Percussion,” states Mapex Marching Arts Artist Relations Manager, John Harvill. “Our team has enjoyed spending time with Josh and getting to know him over the last few years. Bringing him on as an artist was an easy choice. We look forward to supporting one another in the future and welcome him to the team.
