JHS’ Odyssey brass instrument brand has given its support to the Brass for Africa initiative.
Established in 2009 as a way of providing musical equipment and tuition for underprivileged children in some of the poorest countries in the world, the Brass For Africa programme continues to empower children with the gift of music – with the added benefits of self-worth, team-work, communication skills, presentation skills, all the educational benefits of literacy, numeracy and coordination that result from involvement in music education.
Odyssey provided an Odyssey OCR200 Debut Cornet for use, with Odyssey designer and Master Craftsman Peter Pollard and Kapitol Promotions Philip Morris presenting the cornet to Brass For Africa Executive Director and founder Jim Trott at The National Brass Band Championships at The Royal Albert Hall..
“Hearing for the first time what fantastic work Brass for Africa do for the young people,” said Pollard, “it is a joy to be able to do something that will mean so much to someone in need. I’m looking forward to receiving updates of the progress of the new player that will receive this cornet.”
