Solid State Logic introduced Odyssey, a large-format analogue recording and mixing console with Instant Recall across the entire console. The system expands SSL’s Future Analogue platform and joins the previously released Oracle console.
Powered by SSL’s ActiveAnalogue technology, Odyssey combines analogue signal flow and tactile controls with digital management of console settings. Engineers can restore, compare and switch between complete console states during tracking, overdubbing, mixing, stem creation and client revisions.
Niall Feldman, director of special projects at SSL, said Odyssey expands the Instant Recall approach introduced with Oracle into a modular console platform with full channel processing and large and small faders.
Each channel includes PureDrive microphone preamplifiers with DRIVE control, analogue dynamics, switchable E and G Series EQ, assignable high- and low-pass filters, insert points and motorized dual-fader control. Odyssey configurations range from 24+8 channels to 96+8 channels, with straight-frame, curved ProStation and custom-frame options.
The console provides four stereo main mix buses, 16 track buses, 10 auxiliary buses, eight stereo Flex Groups and three stereo foldback buses. Other features include per-bay DAW control, immersive monitoring support, SSL’s O-Motion dynamic automation system and O-Control session and configuration software.
Odyssey’s center section integrates monitoring, routing, mix control, bus processing, communications, automation and DAW integration. It includes THE BUS+, Analogue Dynamic EQ and support for immersive monitoring systems, including Dolby Atmos renderer control. Analogue circuitry is housed in dedicated remote processing racks.
SSL also announced O Series V2.0, which adds project compatibility between Odyssey and Oracle. The update brings Snapshot filtering, O-Motion DAW plug-in automation and Odyssey’s TouchView dynamics display to Oracle.
Odyssey is available in Standard, ProStation and custom configurations.
