Acoustic and studio construction specialist Studio Float (a Pro Audio Design Inc. brand) has announced a range of entirely new vibration isolation products called IsoRafts, making their debut at Summer NAMM.

Designed as an inexpensive but effective sound-absorbing solution, these simple, innovative ‘blocks’ constructed from wood and silicone provide accurate predictive acoustic performance and are geared towards studio designers and builders for private or commercial production/performance venue projects.

How IsoRafts work

Using IsoRafts during construction of a facility ensures your space is more acoustically efficient and sounds better, preventing sound from leaking into performance areas, and isolates your entire facility from the outside world.

Unlike other acoustic solutions, IsoRafts are easy to install: simply attach directly to the side of studs and joists, using standard fastening techniques, thus enabling construction to move more quickly and smoothly. This means that floors, walls and ceilings are effectively “floating” and decoupled from the main structure, preventing sound transfer between spaces.

All IsoRaft products are designed and built in Hanover, MA and tested at industry leading Riverlab Acoustical Laboratories in IL.

The IsoRafts range

There are several IsoRaft models available:

  • Deck IsoRafts (for floors) available in three sizes ( 2”, 3”, 4”) and height options of low 1-1/4” height profile or high 2-1/4” profile for handling underfloor cabling.
  • Wall IsoRafts with a ¼” offset to provide an air gap to further improve performance.
  • Ceiling IsoRafts available for use with hanging acoustical panels or with a threaded rod insert for even more precise adjustability of acoustical treatments. (The Wall IsoRaft may also be use in a ceiling application.)

You can see Studio Float’s IsoRafts on the Pro Audio Design Inc booth #212 at Summer NAMM.
