Shanghai, 1 June 2026. Music China, Asia’s largest musical instruments trade fair, will return to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 28–31 October 2026 with instruments, services and accessories spanning the music spectrum.
“Tomorrow’s Music,” a dedicated hall spotlighting musical instrument and equipment innovation, will return following its debut last year. The 2026 edition will deepen the event’s exploration of music’s connections to technology, holistic wellness and cultural tourism.
Asia Pacific leads the global musical instrument market with an estimated 40% share, while the China market is projected to reach $3 billion this year, according to figures cited by the organizer.
“Music China is all about supporting the music industry – this means opening doors to broader growth potential and new opportunities, and the upcoming edition represents the next chapter in our vision,” said Judy Cheung, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “While remaining a comprehensive trade platform for musical instruments, we strive to reveal more emerging application scenarios, and cultivate a wider passion for music across users of all ages and needs.”
A Global Stage for Business and Discovery
The 2025 event featured exhibitors from 28 countries and regions, including 10 country pavilions. Building on that foundation, the 23rd edition is expected to welcome another broad mix of domestic manufacturers and international brands.
Overseas participants are expected to include bow specialist Arcus / Bernd Muesing KG, string producer Thomastik-Infeld, wind instrument producer Yanagisawa, guitar manufacturer Alhambra, music publisher Henry Lemoine and qualification providers ABRSM, Rockschool and Trinity College London.
Across 12 halls, the fair will cover bowed strings, electronic instruments and other established product areas. Smart instruments, sound reinforcement, DJ technology and music production software will broaden the show’s scope for manufacturers, dealers, educators and music professionals.
Corinne Votteler, director of sales and marketing international at Bärenreiter, described Music China as an indispensable platform for connecting directly with musicians and educators across China.
Tomorrow’s Music Returns
Hall N2 will host the returning “Tomorrow’s Music” showcase, focused on music technology, AI-driven instrument design, smart learning tools and professional audio. Displays and events will address the full music-creation chain, from composition and production to live performance, broadcasting, film, gaming and intelligent automotive applications.
The Music X zone will bring back Music X Lab, MIDI Zone and X Stage. These platforms will present interactive technologies and next-generation tools for how people create, learn and experience music.
Music, Wellness and Cultural Tourism
Music China will also expand programming around music and sound healing. Exhibits and workshops will include healing instruments such as singing bowls and handpans, alongside discussions about music-driven wellness and cultural tourism.
Music China is organized by Messe Frankfurt, the China Musical Instrument Association and Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co. Ltd.
