Akustika Nuremberg will introduce a Hybrid Piano Salon at its 2027 trade fair, placing electronic, digital and hybrid keyboard instruments at the center of an expanded keyboard program.
The international music trade fair is scheduled for April 9-11 at Messe Nurnberg. Organizers said the new format responds to the synthesizer being named Instrument of the Year 2027 and will emphasize innovation, digitalization and new sound possibilities in the keyboard category.
The Hybrid Piano Salon will include compact business areas for manufacturers, concerts, presentations and specialist talks. Akustika said the program is intended to connect manufacturers and brands with industry professionals, musicians and visitors in a musical setting.
Beginning in 2027, the fair plans an annual rotation in the keyboard section. A year featuring a large piano-builder and manufacturer showcase will be followed by a business-focused year aimed more directly at specialist retailers and music teachers. Organizers said the format was developed with specialist partners and representatives of leading manufacturers.
The 2027 program will also place added attention on young musicians, students, music schools and teachers. Akustika said digital and hybrid instruments can provide an accessible entry point to music-making while combining traditional playing techniques with contemporary creative tools.
Akustika covers string and plucked instruments, keyboards, brass and woodwinds, flutes, orchestral percussion, accessories and sheet music. The event also includes concerts, workshops and live performances, and enables visitors to meet instrument makers and try instruments.
Organizers said the Association of German Piano Manufacturers has joined a long-term strategy intended to strengthen the keyboard sector at the fair. A larger classical-keyboard presence, including concert grand pianos and presentation rooms, is planned for 2028.
