Installation reported that a new cultural venue in Vilablareix, near Girona, Catalonia, has been equipped with NEXO’s P18 point‑source sound system to serve speech, dance theatre and high‑SPL concerts with uniform coverage and no interference between speakers.
The system combines P18 speakers with L18 subwoofers in a coaxial cluster, a design that aligns phase across channels and reduces visual impact, according to the installation details. An NXAMP4X2 Mk2 amplifier processes the signal, handling EQ, phase alignment, crossovers and protective functions to maintain optimal performance at concert‑level sound pressure while preserving speech intelligibility.
L18 subwoofers are flown with the P18 speakers to extend bass response without compromising the discreet visual profile. A future front‑fill array is planned to improve coverage for front‑row seats, as the current cluster’s vertical angle favors middle and rear audiences.
Robert Reig of BTM Sound explained that the hall’s limited 6‑meter height made a conventional line array impractical, as it would require more vertical spacing and could obstruct lighting trusses. The point‑source solution achieved high SPL levels with a low visual footprint.
BTM Sound secured the contract through a public tender, with NEXO’s Spanish distributor Soundmeans recommending the P18 system for the tight budget and challenging brief. Reig noted that both the venue’s client and performing artists were pleased with the system’s performance during its opening shows.
