TASCAM is pleased to announce the CA-XLR2d Series professional audio XLR microphone adapter for mirrorless cameras. The new CA-XLR2d XLR Audio Adapter is available in three configurations: (1) the CA-XLR2d Canon Kit, (2) the CA-XLR2d FUJIFILM Kit, and (3) the CA-XLR2d Analog Interface Kit for use with Nikon cameras and others. Each kit combines the leading camera manufacturers’ expertise with high quality audio capturing technology from TASCAM.
The video and movie streaming market has been rapidly expanding, and audio quality is one of the essential elements to influence viewers’ engagement. Because of this, the number of video creators and producers who are exploring better audio quality as well as better image quality is increasing. As mirrorless cameras typically used for high quality video shooting do not accommodate an XLR input for professional microphones or a high-quality preamplifier, there are very limited options to upgrade one’s audio quality within the capability of the camera itself. Currently, when high-quality XLR or lavalier microphones to capture pro quality audio are required, a digital audio recorder independent of the camera is needed. However, this method requires additional time to synchronize audio and video during editing and use of one more device.

The Canon Kit: CA-XLR2d-C
Thanks to co-design and evaluation of a digital hot shoe connection with Canon Inc. that is compliant with their multi-function shoe, digital audio transmission directly into the camera and buss power supply from the camera is available for a cable-free system with high mobility. Further, the CA-XLR2d is also planned to be compatible with the multi-function shoe of the Canon XF605 Professional Camcorder. This combination provides a maximum of 4 XLR input cannels in addition to the built-in 2 XLR channels on the camcorder. Product compatibility includes: Mirrorless camera [EOS R3], Professional Camcorder [XF605]. With the included 2 x AA battery box and cold shoe mount adapter, the CA-XLR2d also works with existing cameras that do not have the multi-function hot shoe by connecting an analog audio cable between the CA-XLR2d’s analog out and camera’s mic-in.
The FUJIFILM Kit: CA-XLR2d-F
Thanks to co-development of a digital hot shoe connection with FUJIFILM Corporation that is compliant with Fujifilm’s digital hot shoe, digital audio transmission directly into the camera and buss power supply from the camera is available to build a cable-free system for high mobility. Preliminary product compatibility includes: Mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-T4”, “FUJIFILM X-S10”, “FUJIFILM GFX100S” (*Compatible within the year 2022).
With the included 2 x AA battery box and cold shoe mount adapter, the CA-XLR2d also works with existing cameras that do not have the multi-function hot shoe by connecting an analog audio cable between the CA-XLR2d’s analog out and camera’s mic-in.
Analog Interface Kit: CA-XLR2d-AN
Thanks to the collaboration of creating an analog interface kit with Nikon Corporation, using the included 2 x AA battery box and cold shoe mount adapter works by connecting an analog audio cable between the CA-XLR2d’s analog out and the camera’s mic in. The CA-XLR2d will work as an analog audio adapter to deliver high quality audio to a wider range of existing camera users.
