Rosin, a manufacturer of instrument rosin, has unveiled a fresh formulation specifically designed for double bass players. According to No Treble, the new offering distinguishes itself from existing Rosin products with a unique component that affects its physical properties.
Kevin Johnson, writing for No Treble, reports that the Dark Formula offers a different tactile experience while maintaining a strong grip. The product’s creators state it provides a smooth feel, particularly during warmer weather, and resists becoming overly sticky even in high temperatures.
Sound quality is also a key feature, with the new blend emphasizing low-mid overtones to produce a warm and clear tone suitable for solo and orchestral performances. A demonstration of the rosin’s capabilities can be heard through a performance of the Hans Fryba Suite by Severiano Paoli.
The Dark Formula is manufactured in the Netherlands and packaged in environmentally conscious materials, including a recyclable metal container and a paper cup.
