Alesis Drums and Zildjian disclosed a strategic alliance on Aug. 8, 2026, merging the cymbal maker's heritage with Alesis's electronic percussion platform. According to Modern Drummer, the partnership combines Zildjian's cymbal expertise with Alesis's electronic percussion technology.
The collaboration involved selecting specific cymbals from Zildjian’s Artist Vault, which were then meticulously sampled by BFD Drums for digital integration. The inaugural Zildjian Session Mix Vol. 1 expansion pack is now on sale, and additional sound libraries are slated for release later in August and throughout the year. These packs work with BFD Player, BFD 3.5, and Alesis Strata modules.
Michael Weber, Alesi’s director of marketing, said the effort seeks to give drummers more realistic nuance, while Zildjian CEO John Stephans highlighted the blend of classic tone with modern technology. Future iterations will extend the partnership across other inMusic brands and further BFD products.
