Amadeus Acoustics has released ART::Director v1.3.1, a software update introducing a Downmix Engine designed to convert immersive, multi-channel venue mixes into standardized formats for broadcast and studio use. According to Installation magazine, the new feature enables sound engineers to run multiple customizable speaker-based downmixes in parallel with primary spatial mixes, supporting configurations ranging from stereo and 5.1 to Atmos.

Installation reported that the company cited its role as an official technical supplier for Eurovision 2026 as a key application, where the tool facilitated simultaneous feeds for broadcast vans and rehearsal rooms. Volker Werner of Amadeus Acoustics stated that the engine preserves acoustic space integrity for directors and performers working outside the main auditorium. The update also allows designers to build spatial soundscapes offline using standard monitoring setups before transferring work to the main stage, potentially reducing on-site rehearsal time.

Per Installation, each downmix system includes size multipliers, individual fade controls, and dedicated low-frequency effects outputs, with options to map performer sources exclusively to frontal loudspeakers. Additional improvements in version 1.3.1 include pattern-based OSC automation, enhanced connection handling, and adjustable crossfades between venue snapshots. The publication noted the update is available now as a free download for existing users via the software welcome page.
